Update: I've finally got my account for Ad Planner, and boy does it look good. If I were a media planner I think I'd be pretty irked that Google have officially pushed their nose into skill set.

Brian, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Not to constantly harp on them, but each time I receive an image-only Apple campaign, I just delete it regardless. I guess mainly out of frustration that they refuse to listen to logic and steam ahead with their own ideas on marketing. Being Apple they can afford to make their own path, but you're right in that it's definitely not applicable to all of us smaller guys.

I guess the big retail email marketers have an excess of cash in their promotional budget. The rest of us would go broke very quickly following their lead. Personally, I use Gmail and those images are turned off. When I open an email and see that it was just a big image (blocked) I can't hit the delete button fast enough. It sounds strange but I sometimes feel grateful that they make it so easy to dismiss their ads.

Absolutely. Brand loyalty is key. Having dealt with both good & bad customer service I'm definitely of the opinion that it's better to go the extra mile rather than have a disgruntled customer who will indeed spread the news not to support that particular brand. Sounds as though your hotel did a great job in keeping you happy and have obviously secured themselves a guaranteed pay cheque for the coming years.
